field. Here is what we mean when we say....
Sales - convincing someone to do something ie - attend SUNY Brockport - attend an event
Marketing - relationship development
Advertising -
purchased,specifically designed communication
Publicity - communication that is generated by topical interest
Public relations - activities that shape perception
Types of Public Relations:
Press release/media advisory - distributing information to the media to gain publicity
Press conference - staged announcement of a major event or announcement
Public service announcement - announcement of a non-commercial event, required of electronic media. These usually run in the middle of the night.
