Office of Design & Production Staff ResponsibilitiesIn the Office of Design & Production, the designers, layout artists and photographers aren't usually assigned to support a specific list of departments or offices. (Although it is not uncommon for a client to ask for a specific staff member to work on his or her project.) Richard Black, director of design & production since 1984, oversees the department's activities with an eye for quality and expediting client requests for the department's services. He also works on a variety of design and related projects, including recruitment and print advertisements, and coordinates on- and off-campus production oversight. Jim Dusen, as an award-winning photography department of one, provides photographic support and "deliverables" for every College office and department, and for most events and activities. He also shoots for all of our catalogues, brochures and advertising materials. Sam Nicolosi, senior design manager at the College since 2002, works on the majority of high-end design projects. This entails consulting with clients and collaborating with marketing communications staff to produce the highest quality of design materials for the College. Experienced in design and typography, Sam works closely with purchasing, service bureaus and printers in the preparation of artwork to be printed on and off campus. Sam works on brochures, posters, advertising and recruitment materials. Sam was responsible for creating the new look of the College's Web site, Kaleidoscope and last year's print ad campaign. He also works creatively with athletics and the School of Arts and Performance. Kim Scott, graphic designer at the College since 1987, performs duties associated with the design and production of college marketing, recruitment and communications materials. This involves meeting and consulting with clients and marketing communications staff to assess client needs. Her work includes illustration, design and typesetting to prepare artwork for production. Kim also works with purchasing, service bureaus and printers in the preparation for artwork for both on- and off-campus production. Kim works on posters, brochures, mailers and advertising materials – including 2004's print ad campaigns for both graduate and undergraduate recruitment. Jim Kanous and his staff are responsible for producing many of the printed materials (brochures, booklets, posters, invitations, etc.) and all of the stationery, business cards and forms that are used on campus. |
