Office of Marketing Communications

Internships

The Office of Marketing Communications offers internship experiences through Independent Study courses. Both undergraduate and graduate students may earn three credits, while working one-on-one with a professional staff member on real-world projects. Each Independent Study course is directed around the students' career goals. This opportunity is ideal for people who enjoy writing.

Requirements:

Prior to registration, students must submit three writing samples and prepare to interview with Ginny Campbell, assistant director of Marketing Communications.

During registration, undergraduates must register for CMC 499 and graduates for CMC 699.

Undergraduates must have junior or senior status.

Appropriate office attire will be required for the duration of the Independent Study.

Students must possess working expertise in Microsoft Word.

Description of internship duties includes, but is not limited to:

  • Write for brochures, press releases and articles
  • Edit writing
  • Participate in client meetings
  • Plan and attend press conferences
  • Learn how words become print
  • Hone grammar skills
  • Develop teamwork skills
