Ensembles at Brockport

Brockport’s music ensembles are open to all without an audition. All ensembles are one (1) credit, and can be taken either with or without credit. This credit goes toward completion of the music minor, and ensembles may be repeated for credit. There is no limit to the number of ensembles in which a student may participate, so dust off your old instrument (or vocal cords) and come join in the music making!!!

Xylophone-Percussion Ensembles

MUS 323.01 General, MUS 323.04 Advanced

Established in 2008, by Dr. Sarrazin, the Xylophone Ensemble provided an ensemble opportunity available to anyone who wanted to play an instrument, but either did not play one or didn’t read music. After its transformation into the Xylophone-Percussion ensemble, the mission remains the same. The general xylophone ensemble is open to everyone with an interest in music.  Students in these ensembles play a variety of percussion arrangements of world music, pop and classical pieces, as well as original student compositions. There is also an advanced ensemble option, which is by permission of the director. This ensemble plays both on and off campus. Students can earn 1 credit hour for each ensemble. Contact: Natalie Sarrazin, nsarrazi@brockport.edu for more information.
