BROCKPORT, NY – Jean-Claude Brizard, superintendant of the Rochester City School District, completed an impressive fall 2008 line-up to the College at Brockport, State University of New York’s Business Briefings Speakers Series. Brizard discussed the importance of preparing students to be able to effectively enter college and /or the work force.
More than 60 local business and education leaders attended the event, which was held in the Grand Atrium of The College at Brockport MetroCenter, 55 St Paul St.
Brizard’s talk, "Preparing Students for the Global Market Place: The Work for K-12 Education," focused on efforts the City School District is making to prepare students to succeed in an increasingly global society and economy.
Brizard also discussed the challenges students from different socio-economic and racial backgrounds face, and the need to have educators raise the bar in an effort to help all students.
The College at Brockport Business Briefings Series, hosted by College President John R. Halstead, was established to build a network among leaders from Western New York, Greater Rochester and The College at Brockport to discuss issues, challenges and opportunities facing the region.
A new slate of speakers will be announced at a later date for the spring 2009 series.
