The Hildegarde Lasell Watson Collection of Artworks by E.E. Cummings
E.E. Cummings was center stage Sunday (April 5) at the Memorial Art Gallery Auditorium as Emmy-winning actor Anthony Zerbe entertained with his one-man presentation, “It’s All Done With Mirrors,” part of The College at Brockport event showcasing Cummings and highlighting the ongoing effort to restore The Hildegarde Lasell Watson Collection of Artworks by E.E. Cummings.
Zerbe concluded his performance of Cummings poems and stories announcing that he would be adopting one of the paintings and encouraging the audience to also “adopt one of these orphans.”
During the reception that followed guests could view the 42 restored works as well as inspect several of the larger, historically significant, works still awaiting adoption.
Nancy Watson Dean, who with her late husband James Sibley Watson Jr. (1894-1982) donated the collection in 1978, welcomed guests and thanked them for their interest in the collection, calling the restoration project, “a miracle.”
