Brockport, NY—Faculty, staff, students and the community gathered in Seymour College Union on Friday, April 24, to celebrate the achievements of more than 200 students at the annual Honors and Awards Ceremony. For more than 25 years, the College has recognized outstanding undergraduate and graduate students for their academic successes and dedicated service to the College and community.
The ceremony began with a procession by faculty and staff in academic regalia. President John R. Halstead, PhD, introduced the President’s Citation Recipient, the College's highest award for a graduating senior, to Theresa Lou Bowick ’09, a nursing student from Rochester, NY. Theresa has a 3.76 GPA and is graduating in May from the RN to BSN Fast Track Program.
The Marion Schrank Student Leadership Award was given to Kyle Amendola ’09, a finance major from Cheektowaga, NY. Kyle graduates with a 3.62 GPA and is the current President of Brockport Student Government.
Awards also were presented to top students in each academic school. The School of Arts and Performance presented the undergraduate award to Jaclyn Schaub ’09, a physical education major from Shirley, NY, and the graduate award to Lyndsey Vader ’09, a dance major from Brockport, NY. The School of Letters and Sciences undergraduate award went to Jacqueline Tibbett ’09, a chemistry major from Binghamton, NY, and the graduate award was given to Jacob Piorkowski ’09, a history major from Buffalo, NY. The School of Professions presented its top undergraduate award to Rachel Wheeler ’09, a nursing major from Falconer, NY, and the graduate award to Megan Barrell ’09, a double major in counseling and education from Hilton, NY.
After the ceremony, a reception was held in honor of students and their guests.
