Brockport, NY The College at Brockport will host a Men of Color Summit on June 16-17. The conference is intended to promote African American, Asian American, Latino and Native American men (18-25 years old), empowering them with the skills and knowledge needed to facilitate academic success, establish and develop a support network, improve personal achievement, and support the goal of graduation. The conference theme is Yes We Can: Reflections on the Past, Investigation of the Present, and Action for the Future.
The conference will give college-age men of color an opportunity to connect, network, learn and find support, in the presence of men who like themselves have faced the rigors of education and the challenges of life in the professional ranks, said Leah Barrett, assistant vice president of student affairs at the College at Brockport.
Feature speakers and presenters represent professions and disciplines such as education, legal services/law, athletics, political, and health.
