It went like clockwork on Friday (Aug. 28) as approximately 1,100 new College at Brockport freshmen moved into campus residence halls. Thanks to the planning of Rick Lair, director of facilities maintenance, and the lifting power of more than 300 volunteer students, staff, and faculty, tons of TVs, refrigerators, clothing, and at least one pink metal locker made their way to the right rooms.
“Move-in Day” at The College at Brockport began 13 years ago and since has become a school tradition. This year’s movers included President John R. Halstead as well as College vice presidents and staff from both the academic and administrative areas. Student helpers included members of the football, soccer, and hockey teams, as well as members of the ROTC cadre.
In addition to the helping hands, incoming students also had the chance to meet with numerous student- and campus-based groups and organizations, such as the Brockport Student Government and Recreational Services.
