RPO Marches into Brockport with an Energetic Program
Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra

Brockport, NY – Setting the scene for some inter-galactic battles, a John Williams’ “Suite from Star Wars” leads off the program “An Evening of Marches and Other Music” that will be given by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert on Friday, November 6, 2009, at 7:30 pm at The College at Brockport’s Tower Fine Arts Center Mainstage. The Tower Fine Arts Center is located at 180 Holley Street, Brockport.
Guest conductor Paul Shewan will help bring the military theme back to earth, with such rousing and energizing works as Sousa’s “The Liberty Bell March,” Strauss’ “Radetsky March” and Borodin’s always exciting and exotic “Polovtzian Dances.” The concert also includes pieces by Tchaikovsky, Fauré, Saint-Saëns and Grieg. “One of the hallmarks of the Fine Arts Series has been the annual concert by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra,” says Francis X. Short, dean of the College’s School of Arts and Performance. “There is the pure joy of hearing such a fine ensemble in the intimate setting of our Tower Mainstage. It’s a delight being so close to the music and the musicians. What many audience members don’t even realize is that the relationship with the RPO doesn’t end there: The orchestra also provides course instructors and in-class lecture/demonstrations to help amplify our music program on campus. It’s partnership that we value greatly.”
