Writers Forum Welcomes Essayist Cheryl Wagner
Wednesday at 8 pm
Brockport, N.Y. – Author Cheryl Wagner will be the next guest for The College at Brockport’s Writers Forum. Wagner will give a reading and discuss her work at 8 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the New York Room, Cooper Hall.
A Louisiana native and resident of New Orleans, Wagner is a graduate of Tulane University and the Center for Writers at the University of Southern Mississippi.
She has made regular appearances on public radio's This American Life and has essays and articles published in Harper's Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, McSweeney’s, The Mississippi Review and Five Dials. She has also been featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s The Current and Definitely Not the Opera.
Wagner’s first book, Plenty Enough Suck to Go Around, is a memoir of her time in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. She won awards from the Louisiana Press Association for her cover stories on Hurricane Katrina.
Founded in 1967, the Brockport Writers Forum is recognized as one of this country’s outstanding reading series. Its guests have included many distinguished poets, writers and critics. In addition to its program of readings, the Writers Forum sponsors residencies, workshops, symposia and festivals – all dedicated to the art of writing.
