Seasonal Songs to Ring Out Through the Village of Brockport

Brockport, NY – Whether in the Latin of a traditional Christmas service, or in the purringly acquisitive lyrics of “Santa Baby,” the songs that comprise our personal holiday soundtracks are wide and varied. This music — both religious and secular — reminds us that it is December, whether it accompanies us as we shop, wrap gifts, bake cookies, fry potato pancakes, or take a moment to reflect on the year about to end. Stirring or jazzy, these melodies will be celebrated when the Brockport College-Community Chorus presents their concert, “Sounds of the Season,” on Sunday evening, December 6, 2009, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 14 State Street, Brockport. Tickets for the concert, which begins at 7:30 pm, cost $5, and will be sold at the door. For more information, please call (585) 395-ARTS.
The program will include such holiday favorites as Handel’s “Joy to the World,” pieces by Bach, Mendelssohn and Bruckner and contemporary favorites (including the aforementioned “Santa Baby”) by Jason Robert Brown and from the score for the film The Polar Express.
The concert caps a weekend of holiday merriment throughout the Village of Brockport. For more information about these events, go to www.brockportny.org/html/community/events.
