Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport, State University of New York, was ranked for the third consecutive year among Kiplinger’s “100 Best Values in Public Colleges,” a list that ranks schools based on a combination of top-flight academics and affordable costs.
For in-state students, The College at Brockport came in 96th. For out-of-state students, the College ranked at number 73. More than 500 public institutions were considered for the rankings.
"We're proud that The College at Brockport was once again recognized for the outstanding value and quality of our students' total educational experience," said College President John R. Halstead, PhD. "On our campus, all faculty and staff are dedicated to the success of students in all that we do and that makes us distinctive".
According to Kiplinger’s Web site, the rankings are based on a combination of academics and affordability. In the scoring system, academic quality carries more weight than costs (almost two-thirds of the total).
“All of the schools in our rankings perform well on measurable criteria, such as student-faculty ratios, academic competitiveness and on-time graduation rates,” writes Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger's.
