It was a Friday treat for more than 80 students from Rochester’s School 54 – Flower City Community School as they took advantage of the College’s recreational facilities today (April 9).
Douglas Collier, PhD, associate professor of kinesiology, sport studies, and physical education along with a team of students welcomed the group of 4th, 5th and 6th graders and their assistant principal Ms. Brenda Santana.
Their two hour program included a demonstration of basketball and gymnastics skills by several Brockport student athletes before they broke up into groups for basketball, gymnastics and racquetball activities.
Collier said the event was a “service learning” activity for the students and a lot of fun for the School 54 students. It was the first visit of what assistant Principal Santana hoped would become an ongoing association between School 54 and The College at Brockport
