Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport’s Music at Noon series continues to welcome faculty and student ensembles from Rochester’s Hochstein School of Music and Dance during the current season. On Wednesday, March 7, 2012, the series will highlight FEM VINDAR [a woodwind quintet]. The free concert takes place at 12 pm in the Drake Memorial Library’s atrium on the campus of The College at Brockport. FEM VINDAR is an all female wind ensemble that combines contemporary, accessible classical music with jazz elements, showcasing a sound that is often light and whimsical. Their mission includes a strong focus on community performances and educational outreach, making the Music at Noon series a perfect venue for them.
The members of FEM VINDAR are Colleen Wolf, French horn; Marcy Bacon, clarinet; Kirsta Rodean, bassoon; Ji Won Lee, oboe; and Kathryn Scarbrough, flute. Though one might think that the FEM portion of FEM VINDAR might stem from “female,” the ensemble’s name actually means “five winds” in Swedish.
Parking for off-campus visitors is available in Lot V, near the Library, on New Campus Drive. Parking permits are available for $4 at the Raye H. Conrad Welcome Center, at the corner of New Campus and Commencement Drives. Please call (585) 395-2787 for additional information.
