BROCKPORT, NY—The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) have announced that nearly 490 public colleges and universities have signed on to the AASCU-APLU joint statement "A Commitment to the Future."
The statement is public higher education’s commitment to increasing the number of undergraduate baccalaureate degrees granted by public colleges and universities by 3.8 million between now and 2025 while striving to provide those students with a quality education. It also commits public institutions to containing per student educational cost while pursing enhanced quality, and calls for a renewed partnership among public colleges and universities, the states and the federal government as we work to achieve these goals.
The College at Brockport, State University of New York, President John R. Halstead released the following statement.
“As an active member of AASCU and SUNY representative to their Council of State Representatives, and more importantly as the President of The College at Brockport, early on I was proud to see the development of this initiative and sign this pledge supporting enthusiastically our campus’s commitment as well as SUNY’s.”
