BROCKPORT, NY—A sophomore at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, is attempting to be recognized as the fittest college guy in America. Connor McJury, an exercise science major from Fairport, NY, is one of 16 finalists in Men’s Fitness and Muscle & Fitness magazine’s Fit Man on Campus competition.
McJury emerged from a field of more than 1,000 participants to become a finalist. The field will be cut to eight on Nov. 4 based on those who have accumulated the most points. Points are gained by submitting videos in which finalists accomplish a range of fitness related challenges, including such tasks as working out next to a campus landmark, having your college mascot serve as a weightlifting spotter and selecting your choices for the top three healthiest items in the school’s dining facilities. Finalists also receive points each time their Fit Man profile page is shared, liked or tweeted through social media.
McJury is hoping that the experience will help bolster his future career.
“I want to do something fitness related in my career and I thought this would look good on my resume—although I really didn’t plan on getting this far,” McJury says. “It really is kind of validating for all of the hard work I’ve put into working out and being healthy.”
McJury’s profile can be viewed at FitManOnCampus.com. The contest’s winner—who will be featured in a photo spread in the magazines—will be announced Dec. 12.
