Brockport Named a College of Distinction

College honored by CollegesofDistinction.com for distinctive educational excellence

BROCKPORT, NY—The College at Brockport, State University of New York, is now featured on CollegesofDistinction.com, a website dedicated to honoring schools nationwide for their excellence in student-focused higher education.

“The College at Brockport community is honored to be recognized among the most distinguished colleges and universities in the country,” says Kathryn Wilson, EdD, JD, Brockports vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. “Such recognition reaffirms the work that our students, faculty, and staff do on a daily basis—which is to develop, promote, and foster student success.”

Colleges and universities are nominated for participation in Colleges of Distinction through high school counselors’ recommendations, as well as quantitative research. Once nominated, the colleges are assessed using the Four Distinctions: student engagement, quality of teaching, vibrancy of the college community and success of graduates. Schools featured on CollegesofDistinction.com must meet minimum standards in each category.

Brockport was found to excel in all Four Distinctions and will receive a personal profile on the Colleges of Distinction website.

“Schools designated as “Colleges of Distinction” create well-rounded graduates and are among the very best in the country,” says Tyson Schritter, executive editor of Colleges of Distinction. “While each school is one of a kind, they all share a common theme: they are all a great place to get an education.”
