BROCKPORT, NY—Students from all over the northeastern United States and Canada will gather at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, April 20 for the second annual Master’s Level Graduate Research Conference. They will present original research and artistic endeavors in poster sessions, oral presentations, and creative performances.
The conference will feature a keynote presentation from Timothy Killeen, President of the Research Foundation of SUNY and Vince Chancellor for Research at SUNY.
The conference offers a unique opportunity to graduate students, says Jamie Spiller, dean of The Graduate School and Assistant Provost and Scholarship at Brockport.
“This Master’s Level Graduate Research Conference provides participants with important professional development opportunities,” Spiller says. “They have an opportunity to present their work in a quality academic conference, open their work to peer and faculty review, and attend workshops on career development and doctoral study preparation.”
Topics that will be presented at the conference include the following:
• Intimate Partner Violence Among College Students: Examining Likelihood of Intervention in Various Violent Scenarios • Effects of Stormwater Retention Ponds on Calling Amphibian Populations • Water Quality Analysis of Separate Storm Sewers in the City of Rochester • The St. John’s Collaborative for Intergenerational Learning, where students worked on research projects to better understand perceptions of aging and long term care, and to investigate elder’s motivations for recreation/leisure programming.
The conference begins with check-in at Brockport’s Seymour College Union at 8 am. Presentations take place throughout the day in Edwards and Hartwell Halls. Killeen’s keynote address begins at noon in the Seymour College Union ballroom.
