BROCKPORT, NY—The College at Brockport, State University of New York, has made one of its graduate programs available completely online for the first time. The New York State Department of Education has approved the addition of a distance learning format to Brockport’s Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program.
The Liberal Studies degree is a multidisciplinary program for graduate students seeking an alternative to the traditional graduate courses of study that focus on professional training in a single area. Each student has the opportunity to develop an individualized plan of study that is tailored to their personal and/or professional goals. Students can complete the 30 credit hour program entirely online. The program requires the completion of nine credits of seminar, 18 hours of electives, and a three-credit capstone course.
Making more academic programs available online is a key component of Open SUNY, an effort to increase distance learning opportunities for SUNY students that was introduced by Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher in her 2013 State of the University Address.
