Brockport Orchestra Celebrates “A Night on Broadway”

Concert begins at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2013 in the Seymour College Union

Brockport, NY – Surveying some of the most beloved music to emanate from the “Main Stem,” the Brockport Symphony Orchestra will spend “A Night on Broadway” at their concert on Thursday, October 3, 2013. Under the baton of Jonathan Allentoff ’15, the ensemble will play selections from Show Boat, Porgy and Bess, The Music Man, Carousel, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, and My Fair Lady with new arrangements by Allentoff and Dr. William Hullfish, professor emeritus of music, beginning at 7:30 pm in the Seymour College Union, Residence Drive, on the Brockport campus. There is a suggested donation of $3.

Also featured during the concert are vocalist Mary Wojciechowski and trumpet soloist Buddy Colaneri. Wojciechowski earned a bachelor's degree in music with a concentration in vocal performance from Nazareth College and a master's degree in music from Temple University in Philadelphia, where she sang with the Philadelphia Pops Festival Chorus under the baton of Peter Nero. Wojciechowski has sung with the Gateswingers Big Band and the Rochester Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra alongside such musicians as Colaneri, Dave Mancini, Tony Ferra, Tim Sullivan, Ron Bowks, and Aaron Hughes.

Colaneri is the lead trumpet in the Gateswingers Big Band and he performed for many years with the Gene Krupa Band, Louis Prima Band, and the Boyd Raeburn Band. His recordings are distributed by Atlantic Records, Columbia Records, Savoy Records, Proper Box UK, and Warner Music.
