BROCKPORT, NY—The College at Brockport, State University of New York, will join others across the world in a movement that aims to end violence against women on Feb. 14. Participants everywhere will stop what they are doing and rise up in dance and spoken word in a display of unity.
At Brockport, choreographed dances will take place at 10 am in Drake Memorial Library and at noon at Union Square in the Seymour College Union. At 12:14 pm a “Brockport Rises for Justice” poetry reading will take place in the Seymour Union’s Fireside Lounge.
The entire campus community is invited to participate in these events. To learn the dance, which was choreographed by Brockport Dance Professor Nicole Kaplan, watch this YouTube video. For more information visit the One Billion Rising for Justice website.
