Brockport to Celebrate Commencement May 16-17

Brockport bids farewell to its graduates in three weekend ceremonies

BROCKPORT, NY—Nearly 1,700 students will receive diplomas during three Commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday at The College at Brockport, State University of New York.

The graduate ceremony begins at 5 pm Friday in the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC) on New Campus Drive. Students will accept their degrees after hearing from renowned fine craft artist and Brockport Professor Emeritus Thomas Markusen. Markusen’s pieces have appeared in prestigious institutions such as the Vatican Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York City and the Wustum Museum in Racine, WI. Markusen will also be receiving an honorary degree from the State University of New York.

Graduate ceremony attendees can utilize this interactive map to facilitate their visit.

Brockport will host two ceremonies to honor its undergraduate students. The first ceremony, which begins at 9:30 am in SERC, will consist of graduates from the School of Health and Human Performance and the School of Science and Mathematics. The second ceremony, which begins at 2 pm in SERC, will consist of graduates from the Schools of the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Business Administration and Economics; and Education and Human Services.

Brockport alumnus and Vice Chairman of Staples, Inc. Joe Doody ‘74 will deliver the undergraduate address. Doody has been tasked with leading the office supply giant’s strategic reinvention and has responsibility for its strategic development as well as the company’s operations in Australia, New Zealand and high-growth markets.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early and allow plenty of time to get seated as, with high volumes of traffic anticipated, delays are unavoidable. Plan to enter the campus via Commencement Drive (off Route 31). Parking is available in any campus lot, except Lot U. For easier exiting after the ceremony, you may wish to park in the lots along Residence Drive. No parking permit is required.
