Internships & Scholarships for Careers in Science Teaching

The College at Brockport offers a unique and distinct opportunity for careers in teaching science through the Robert Noyce scholarship program. Utilizing the College's exceptional legacy in science teacher education and computational sciences, the Noyce scholarship program seeks to prepare a new generation of exemplary science teachers who are able to excite and engage students' learning of science; an area critical to the future of our nation. The Noyce program works in partnership with Brockport's CMST Institute to provide the latest in teaching with technology and constructivist pedagogy.

Supported by a federal grant through the National Science Foundation, the Noyce program will offer scholarships to up to 20 qualified teacher candidates: 10 each at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Recipients receive:

  • Monetary support up to $10,000 / year
  • Extensive field experiences and student teaching
  • Dual certification in science and students with disabilities
  • Courses in computational pedagogy
  • A capstone summer institute

The criteria for the program includes among others, a minimum G.P.A. and the requirement that recipients commit to teach to two years as a science teacher in a high-needs school for each year the scholarship is received. Deadlines for applications are February 15 and September 15 annually. (*Note: Internships and scholarships have different requirements).
