The Department of Nursing will soon have a new home thanks to a comprehensive renovation of Lathrop Hall supported by the SUNY Construction Fund. When completed this summer, the nursing program will have state-of-the-art facilities that include multiple simulation rooms, a 12-bed fundamental lab, an 8-bed assessment lab, a 32-seat computer lab, and even a student lounge! After being moved from Hartwell to Tuttle North in the early part of the 1980s, the Department of Nursing will finally have its own building and a clear identity on campus.
The Department of Nursing is located in Tuttle North. Within this building are classrooms for small and large group study, the Nursing Resource Center, faculty offices and the campus indoor recreation facilities.
The Nursing Resource Center contains computer terminals available for the exclusive use of nursing students, interactive video instructional equipment, numerous computer-assisted instruction programs and a fully equipped nursing-skills laboratory including high definition patient simulation mannequins for student learning and practice. All nursing students participate along side faculty and our full time lab coordinator in both actual clinica l experiences and lab simulation experiences to develop expertise.
The Department of Nursing is conveniently located near the Drake Memorial Library where an extensive collection nursing literature and audiovisual material is readily accessible in paper and electronic format.
