Patricia L. Sharkey, MS, RN, CS

psharkey@brockport.edu

 Initially, Sharkey was a graduate of The Genesee Hospital School of Nursing. She then went on to obtain a baccalaureate degree in nursing from SUNY Brockport and a master's degree in adult mental health nursing from SUNY Buffalo.

Sharkey has been teaching psychiatric nursing at SUNY Brockport since 1978. She has also served as a psychiatric consultant to area nursing homes, providing psychiatric care to clients with behavioral/emotional problems. Sharkey is recognized in the community as an expert in the area of geriatric psychiatry.

Sharkey was awarded the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1986, which recognizes a pattern of extraordinary performance in teaching. She is also certified as a clinical nurse specialist by the American Nurses Association, which recognizes her expertise in the area of psychiatric nursing.

2007 Receipient of the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award.
