Joanne Stevens, PhD, WHCNP, FNP, RN, C
Dr. Joanne Stevens has been with the Department of Nursing at the State University of New York at Brockport since 2002. She works as Assistant Professor and coordinates courses, which focus on reproductive and maternal-newborn health care and human development across the life course. She team teaches in junior nursing courses, acclimating students to nursing culture in classroom, the nursing resource center and clinical practice sites. Dr. Stevens coordinates both the Childbearing Families and Developmental Assessment courses.
She received her PhD from the Margaret Warner School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester in 2002. Her area of expertise is in human development within educational contexts. Her Masters in Nursing is concentrated in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Stevens also completed post- certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2004 though the State University of NY at Brockport.
Dr. Stevens has published articles on critical thinking, prenatal care, infertility, gynecology, access to care, and child care provider education. Her current interests are interactive learning, fostering, critical thinking, quality prenatal care and gamete donation.
Dr. Stevens practices with the Strong Health organization in Rochester, NY in the Rochester Adolescent Maternity Program (RAMP), and also works as a family nurse practitioner at the Strong Fertility and Reproductive Science Center at the Women’s Health Pavilion in Rochester, NY.
