HIPAA Compliance Policy
- All employees in the Department of Nursing will sign the workforce confidentiality agreement.
- All students will receive a Notice of Information Practices, Uses and Disclosures of Health Information. Students will sign an acknowledgement of receipt of this notice during orientation to the program.
- Students or their health care providers mail a health form to the nursing department. Mail is opened by the department secretary. Student health information will be kept in a small file cabinet behind the desk of the department secretary. Only department faculty and secretary have access to this cabinet.
- Student health information will be kept for one year after student’s graduation. It will then be shredded by the department secretary.
