Summer Orientation 2013 Details

Things to do BEFORE you arrive for Orientation:

  1. Submit your tuition DEPOSIT!  The deposit deadline is May 1.
  2. Reserve your spot for Orientation (available mid-April). Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. 
  3. Complete the Health Center's Medical Evaluation Form. Bring your completed form to Summer Orientation - the Health Center staff will be on hand to collect them and answer any questions you may have. Also visit the Immunization & Health Insurance Web site on Brockport Bound to ensure you have completed all necessary paperwork prior to the fall semester.
  4. Complete and submit the online Course Preference Survey  (available mid-April). THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! We build your fall course schedule using this survey. You will receive your completed course schedule at Summer Orientation. Contact Freshman Registration at 585-395-2314 or via e-mail with questions about the course selection process.

 

Program cost - students

The nonrefundable fee for Freshman Orientation is automatically placed on all incoming student bills. The fee covers all program materials, staff, meals, housing, activities, etc. Family members pay an additional fee, detailed below. Students in the Arthur O. Eve Opportunity for Higher Education Program attend a separate program and are not charged the fee.



  

 

Program cost - parents, families & guests

$30/person ..... Parent/Family Program registration (program participation; includes light refreshments)

 

Additional Options for families & guests

$23/person ..... Dinner ticket (on day one of orientation)

$12/person ..... Breakfast ticket (on day two of orientation)

$42/person ..... Overnight on-campus accommodations in our new townhomes (this is the most cost-effective option if you are the only guest. Two or more guests should consider area lodging). 

$5/person ..... Sibling program for children ages 5-12 (does not include meals or overnight accommodations)

 

When and where to arrive

Check-in is between 10 am and 2 pm. All students and guests can check in at MacVicar Hall, located on Residence Drive. Parking is available lots P, Q and R, located across the street from MacVicar Hall. The program begins at 2:15.

Taking a flight?

Upon request, we will provide a free shuttle between the Rochester International Airport* and campus for orientation! Shuttle services are provided to guests who make arrangements prior to the day of their arrival.  Call 585-395-5397 prior to your orientation session to make arrangements for pick-up.

The shuttle will arrive at the Jet Blue ARRIVALS (downstairs, ground level) by 10:30 a.m. on day one of each session.  The shuttle will leave campus by 1 p.m. on day two of each session, arriving at the airport by 2 p.m. Please plan your flights accordingly.

*This shuttle only runs between the Airport and campus during orientation sessions, and will not make any other stops.

 

What to bring with you to Summer Orientation

  • Comfortable shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Pillow and sheets (twin, extra long) or sleeping bag (we do not provide linens)
  • Towels and toiletries (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, hair dryer, etc.)
  • A fan, if the weather is hot (our residence halls are not air conditioned)

 

Optional items to include

  • Alarm clock (we do provide wake-up calls)
  • Change for the vending machines
  • Money for souvenirs at the bookstore

 

What NOT to bring

  • Your friends
  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Valuables
  • Electronic equipment (I-pods and such)
  • Pets
