Hi! Welcome to the first Department of Physical Education and Sport E-Newsletter! This is an extremely exciting time for our department and we'd like to keep our students, alumni, emeriti faculty and staff, and friends up to date on departmental events. We plan to publish the newsletter once or twice a year and encourage your input. If there are things you'd like to know about or ideas you have, please feel free to contact me; I'd love to hear from you.

Athletic Training
The program is now accredited through 2008 -- meaning the many recent mandated reforms in athletic training have been successful. We've added faculty and we're excited about a new prospect on the horizon: the move to make athletic training a stand-alone major.

Adapted Physical Education

Pre-school -- Grade 12 Teacher Certification
Our program continues to be in high demand with nearly 70 student teachers in the field each semester. As a result, the program will introduce more rigid admission criteria for incoming students. It's a busy semester and year for teacher certification!

Sport Management
The sport management concentration continues to grow from its beginning as one of the first sport management programs in the country. As more alumni become employed in the field, so grows our network for internships for current students.

Welcome Back, Emeriti!
Marilyn Colby, Asst. Professor Emerita
As retired faculty member Marilyn Colby demonstrates, emeriti faculty stay active after they leave the classroom! We'd like to maintain contact with our emeriti faculty and staff by keeping them informed of new developments within the department and the campus community.
