Our students continue to be involved in very interesting internships: senior Roxanne Nash just extended her stay in Houston while working with astronauts at NASA’s Countermeasures Exercise Physiology Laboratory.

Other excitement from the concentration is our recent link with the Women’s United States National Fencing Team. Dr. Heidi Byrne and Dr. Craig Mattern tested 10 athletes, three of whom have recently returned from competition at the World Championships in Italy.

Dr. Nat Goodhartz, a former exercise physiology faculty member at The College at Brockport, and Mike Pederson are the national team coaches and were with us for two days of testing at The College at Brockport and Rochester Clinical Research. These physiological test results assist coaches and athletes in designing future training programs.

Dave Statt, a former undergraduate student of the Nat Goodhartz era, is now a highly successful personal trainer at Midtown Athletic Club and is the conditioning coach for several of the women fencers.

So we continue to keep it “all in the family!”
