The Professional Education Unit at The College of Brockport is nationally accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Unit is governed by the Professional Education Council (PEC) and linked to the professional community through the Unit Advisory Board. The Unit Teacher Effectiveness and Assessment committees are the two standing committees of the PEC.
The Unit Assessment Committee is a standing committee of the PEC and shall be charged by and report directly to the PEC. The primary function of the Unit Assessment Committee is to coordinate the collection, aggregation, analysis, and use of data from a variety of sources related to the performance of the Professional Education Unit, including data about applicant qualifications, candidate and graduate performance, and Unit operations. The Committee’s specific responsibilities and activities include (1) monitoring development, implementation, and refinement of the Unit’s assessment system, (2) analyzing and using aggregated performance data to improve programs and unit operations, and (3) communicating with others in the Unit. The chair of the Unit Assessment Committee will be appointed by the Head of the Unit.
The members of the Unit Assessment Committee shall include the following persons:
1. Unit Assessment Coordinator
2. Representatives from each of the home departments
3. NCATE coordinator
