I have received and read the Professional Education Unit’s (PEU) Policy on the Assessment of Professional Dispositions for Teacher Education Candidates and I understand, and agree to, the following:
Professional dispositions are the attitudes, values and beliefs demonstrated through both verbal and non-verbal behaviors as educators interact with students, families, colleagues, and communities. Positive dispositions support student learning and development. The five key dispositions important to my development as an educational professional are:
My professional dispositions will be assessed on a regular basis as a candidate within the PEU.
In addition to the regular assessment, any faculty member, member of the professional staff within the PEU, or school-based professional may submit a written dispositional report if I engage in behaviors deemed inappropriate and unacceptable to the teaching profession.
At the discretion of either a department-based committee or the PEU’s Teacher Certification Committee, I may be assigned additional remedial work or I may be dismissed from the teacher education program if I have multiple assessments or reports of unprofessional behavior or if I engage in a single, more egregious behavior (including, but not limited to, behaviors that place the physical or psychological health and safety of children or adolescents at risk).
I may appeal any evaluation or report that judges my behavior to be unprofessional and I have certain rights pertaining to processes associated with the assessment of dispositions and my status within the PEU.
