Professor History:

"Dr. Andrea Ciliotta-Rubery is the Department's political theorist. She came to SUNY Brockport in 1996, after several years of teaching at NYU. She received her Bachelor's degree from Colgate University in 1985, with a degree in political science. She then went on to get a Master's Degree and Doctorate from Georgetown University in political theory. Specializing in the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods, Dr. Rubery interests focus on Machiavelli and the impact of his writings upon Christianity. Dr. Rubery has also served as a discussant for various APSA theory sections on Machiavelli and has presented on Machiavelli's spiritual fathers. While Dr. Rubery's main focus is on Machiavelli, she also has great interest in the American Founding period, as well as the relationship between politics and literature. Presently, Dr. Rubery is the Chair of our Department, the Chair of the Awards Committee, the Chair of Phi Beta Delta Honors Society for International Education Students, and an active faculty member with International Education Programs at The College at Brockport. She resides with her husband and four children."
