PMACS Scholarships
Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science Scholarships
for Freshmen and Sophomores
The College has received a grant of $600,000 from the National Science Foundation to provide 25 scholarships of $5,400/year for freshman and sophomore students majoring in physics, mathematics or computer science. This NSF program provides institutions with funds for student scholarships to encourage and enable the achievement of higher education degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics by talented but financially disadvantaged students. The program was established in accordance with the American Competitiveness and Workforce Improvement Act of 1998.
Scholarship funds can be used for expenses normally incurred by full-time students - including tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment. These scholarships are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis. Students making satisfactory progress in their degree program during the fall semester (defined as a GPA of 2.75 both overall and in their major for the semester) will have their scholarships continued during the spring semester.
There is a similar scholarship program for juniors, seniors and graduate students, called the BPMACS program. Information about this program can be found at: BPMACS Scholarships
