The College at Brockport is a part of the SUNY-wide Emergency Notification System called NY-Alert. Upon receipt of an emergency message, this system provides emergency updates and other important information to your phone, fax or email. Signing up for this service is free of charge and well worth the investment. All members of our community are encouraged to enroll for these notifications.
Upon enrolling for this service, you will be guaranteed a minimum of two messages per year. The College is committed to testing the NY-Alert System, along with all other forms of Emergency Communications every semester to ensure operability and familiarization to those who have enrolled. When testing, enrollees will receive a message stating that it is "test" of the system.
The College at Brockport participates in the SUNY-wide NY-Alert emergency messaging system. This system was created to notify all campus members of emergency situations that could impact the safety and wellbeing of the campus community.
To enroll today, click here. For students, in order to affirm your registration a screen will first appear prompting your optional enrollment in the NY-Alert emergency messaging system. This screen will only appear when you must affirm your enrollment each semester. Therefore, each semester you must choose to enroll, not enroll or update your existing information. Should you not be enrolled in classes for the current term or if you have separated from the college, your contact information is voided and you will not be contacted in a campus emergency. Upon re-enrollment or are re-employed by the College, your contact information shall be reactivated within one week.
Should you choose to enroll in the NY-Alert emergency messaging system, you will be required to provide a minimum of one valid email address. Other notification options are optional and include:
Once enrolled, you have the capability to provide three numbers for each application you choose. Please remember that the NY-Alert system, once activated, will contact all avenues of notification you have chosen.
NY-Alert officials recommend listing only your most utilized numbers for this application.
There is a slight delay between the time when you submit your contact information and when it is physically updated into the NY-Alert database. Your information should be active after one week of completing enrollment.
An emergency message will be sent from the Campus in any situation where the health and/or safety of The College at Brockport community is in question. Such situations would include:
Currently, only members of the College community with access to the Campus Information System (Banner), can sign up for emergency notifications via NY-Alert. These members include: current students, faculty and staff, employees of affiliated organizations such as the Brockport Auxiliary Service Corporation, the Research Foundation and the Brockport Child Development Center.
College community members that are enrolled in NY-Alert do have the capability to provide parent, guardian, spouse, or other(s) as their secondary contact information if they wish.

The NY-Alert system is designed to alert you in cases where your personal safety may be at risk. For this reason, it is critical that Brockport/NY-Alert has your contact information that is utilized on a regular basis. Please be assured that the data you provide will not be used for any other purpose or database.
To provide for an easier SUNY NY-Alert registration process, this enrollment application will optionally copy data from the Banner Student system. This is only offered during the initial data entry process as a convenience and the data will not be used to update Banner. If you wish to correct contact information within Banner, use the Personal Information Menu within Banner Self-Service to do this.
The data you provide will be sent to the State Emergency Management Office by SUNY System Administration. It will be sent to no other third parties, public or private. You will be able to alter your data at any time on the Banner Self-Service Personal Information menu including the option to remove yourself from the system. Data is transmitted weekly so registration and data changes can take up to seven days to alter the alert system.
The College at Brockport considers this data as critical and strongly encourages your participation. You will be able to enroll at any time using the Personal Information Menu in Banner Self-Service. You will be prompted at the beginning of each semester to confirm your decision regarding participation and offered an opportunity to update your personal contact data.
By submitting contact information you are providing your consent for disclosure of this information to both SUNY System Administration and to the State Emergency Management Office.
The College at Brockport will make every effort to inform all users of an emergency in a timely and appropriate manner however cannot guarantee performance of the system and disclaims liability for messages delayed or not received due to technological limitations or human error.
