Here is a round-up of the newest offerings from the School of Arts and Performance for Nov.:
· PICK OF THE ISSUE Joseph Kesselring's classic play, Arsenic and Old Lace, will be presented in the Tower Fine Arts Mainstage Theatre on Nov. 9-11 and 16-18. The Nov. 17 performance is a "Sweet Saturday" and features award-winning BASC desserts and beverages, available in the lobby prior to curtain time and during intermission. The Nov. 18 performance will be sign-interpreted. All performances are at 7:30 pm, except Sunday performances, which are at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 seniors and students.
· RPO musicians perform throughout Nov. As part of SUNY Brockport's collaboration with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, this series of free, public, RPO guest artist lectures/demonstrations will offer the following excursions into music appreciation:
· Nov. 12, Mark Kellogg and his trombone will be on stage with pianist Joe Werner.
· Nov. 19, RPO musicians Gaelen McCormick on the double bass will join Martha Shool on bassoon for an evening from "The Bottom of the Orchestra."
· Nov. 26, Rebecca Gilbert will share the charms of the flute.
All performances are free, with no reservations required, and will be held in Tower Fine Arts Room 120 at 7:30 pm.
· A Dance Premiere of the MFA theses by Melanie Milow and Lindsey Rozzi and other student choreography will be held Nov. 15-17 in Hartwell Studio 152 at 8 pm. Experience the range of Terpsichorean creativity from traditional to more experimental approaches. Tickets are $7; $5 seniors and students. Later in the month student dancers Kirsten Peterson and Denise Purvis will present their MFA thesis projects, also in Hartwell Studio 152 on Nov. 29-30.
· Coming up in the Tower Fine Arts Gallery is an exhibit by Rosemarie T. Bernardi of Keene State College, NH. Her exhibit of large-scale, photo-intaglio prints and charcoal drawings runs from Nov. 8-Dec. 9.
· The work of student artist Jim DeLucia will be on display at his exhibit in the Art Student Association Rainbow Gallery, Nov. 13-21. An opening reception will be held on Nov. 13, 6-8 pm. And DeLucia will be followed by Tiffany Cross and Rachael Hetzel with their exhibit in the Rainbow Gallery, Nov. 27-Dec. 15. The opening reception for their joint exhibit will be on Nov. 28 from 6-8 pm. Both exhibits are free.
· The Eastman School of Music string ensemble will perform works by Ravel and other French composers in a concert titled Trio Sturm und Drang on Nov. 30 at 7:30 pm. Performing will be Johannes Strydom on cello, Tigran Vardanian on violin and Kris Bezuidenhout on piano. Tickest are $7/$5 seniors and students.
· Treat yourself early in the holiday season to the Brockport College-Community Chorus Holiday Concert on Dec. 1 at the First Presbyterian Church, 35 State Street in Brockport, beginning at 7:30 pm. The concert is free, but a donation of canned food is appreciated.
