"You are doing an excellent job at Brockport and you have my full confidence, and that of the State University Board of Trustees," wrote Chancellor Robert L. King in his Aug. letter to SUNY Brockport President Paul Yu, which served as Yu's recent evaluation.
King enumerated several of Yu's accomplishments, including:
1. "You have developed and successfully implemented a strategic initiative to elevate selectivity in the
admission standards at the College. You had the courage to risk lower short-term enrollments in order to enhance student selectivity.
2. "During this past year you re-organized and re-invigorated the [Brockport College] Foundation.
3. "You have carefully managed the financial resources of the College.
4. "The latest State University student satisfaction survey
indicates that student satisfaction has continued to increase in all categories.
5. "By all accounts, morale is reported to be very positive across all campus constituencies.
6. "The faculty at Brockport continues to be active in research and they brought in nearly $4 million to the campus this past year."
King closed his letter asking Yu to "keep up the excellent work you are doing." The Chancellor wants Yu to continue to
make progress on raising selectivity at the campus, to build on the work he has done in re-organizing the Brockport College Foundation and improve the philanthropic support for the College, and to continue his efforts to meet cash reserve balance guidelines.
All that is to say that SUNY Brockport's president earned a solid "A." It is something we can all take pride in Yu certainly didn't do it alone: You helped. Considerably.
