Program Description and Quick Facts
 
BKC is a recreational and educational day camp run by the Office of Recreational Services at The College at Brockport. The camp is currently open to children ages four to twelve, with the Counselor-in-Training program open to children ages thirteen to fifteen. The camp's director and assistant director are full-time The College at Brockport staff members, while the camp's counselors, swim instructors and lifeguards are The College at Brockport students. Throughout the numerous sessions, campers utilize many on-campus resources including the library, planetarium, Gallery Game Room, art department, chemistry department, radio station and television studio. Additionally, a variety of field trips, overnighters and special events are scheduled.  Brockport Kids Camp is commonly referred to as BKC.
 BKC receives a summer camp permit each year from the Monroe County Health Department.
 BKC was initiated in the summer of 2002 and offered five sessions to 110 campers.
 In 2006, BKC offered eight summer sessions, one session in February and one session is April to almost 400 campers. The maximum number of campers accepted per session was 50 (four sessions filled to capacity).
 The maximum camper to counselor ratio for campers ages four to five is 8:1 and is 10:1 for all other campers.
 All BKC employees are The College at Brockport students, most majoring in elementary education, physical education, arts for children, recreation or other related fields.
 In 2004, a counselor-in-training program was added for teens ages thirteen to fifteen. In 2005, we had seven CIT's participate in the extensive training / development program. In 2006, the program grew to ten CIT'S. Please note: CIT's are not included in the camper to counselor ratio!
 In 2006, 45% of campers were family members of The College at Brockport students, faculty and staff.
