What is an Advisement Key Number?
Advisement Key Numbers are only required for matriculated undergraduate student registration. College policy requires that matriculated undergraduate students meet with their academic advisors first to obtain his/her approval for their selection of courses for the next semester and to obtain their Advisement Key Number to register online. That Advisement Key Number is actually an electronic signature and not just a computer access number. With their Advisement Key Number, Undergraduates can access the system and register online from any computer, anywhere during specified registration periods.
- The Advisement Key Number is a number provided each semester to each student by his/her advisor. Advisement Key Numbers must be obtained from the advisor of record as listed in the Banner Student Information System. If you have changed advisors without making a formal request to change your advisor through the Office of Academic Advisement, the prior advisor is the one who will have your Advisement Key Number. The Office of Registration and Records does not give out Advisement Key Numbers.
- The Advisement Key Number is generated for each undergraduate student every semester. Last semester’s Advisement Key Number is of no use this semester.
- Entering the Advisement Key Number into the online registration system is proof that you had the required meeting with your advisor.
- If the Advisement Key Number does not work, you should contact your advisor to be sure the number you have been given is valid.
