Faculty In Residence Program
The Faculty in Residence is a College at Brockport faculty member who serves as a resource and mentor to residential students by living in a residence hall community. The faculty member is provided a first floor apartment, with personal kitchen and laundry facilities for the calendar year. The Faculty in Residence serves as a liaison between faculty and students while encouraging the intellectual stimulation and academic involvement of residential students. Working under the direction of the Associate Director of Residential Life/Learning Communities, the Faculty in Residence will work in partnership with the hall’s Resident Director, Resident Assistants, and living learning community personnel. This team works to develop a sense of community, involve other faculty in residence life, enhance the living learning communities, and assist in meeting the academic and community needs of residents.
Specific responsibilities include student interaction, educational program development, academic counseling and support of individual students, and cooperation with the Residential Life/Learning Communities staff. Faculty in Residence programs have been social and educational in nature, including film screenings, trips to plays and museums, cultural dinners, craft nights, holiday celebrations, student-faculty pool tournaments, and programs created in response to significant campus events.
If interested in pursuing this opportunity, please e-mail David Bagley (dbagley@brockport.edu).
