Fast Numerical Solutions to the 2D Poisson Equation

Poisson's equation appears in numerous contexts in scientific computing. When the equation is discretized on a grid with equal spacing in the x- and y-directions, the resulting matrix possesses properties that enable linear systems to rapidly be computed using the discrete fast Fourier transform. The method and numerical results will be presented.
