Alice is a tool for teaching introductory computer programming concepts. It combines contemporary programming skills with Hollywood-style storyboarding in a three-dimensional interactive graphics environment. The goal of Alice is to make introductory Computer Science courses less intimidating to students, thus improving student motivation and retention, especially among underrepresented groups. In this session, we present an introduction to the Alice tool, including a brief tutorial and hands-on experience using Alice.
