Relationship building for young girls is a highly researched topic. Young girls develop and maintain relationships in various different ways. As young girls begin to mature and develop, building and maintaining healthy relationships becomes more difficult. Young girls will do things that they do not necessarily agree with in order to gain a friend. The way in which girls develop relationships is different than that of boys and that may be related to how girls are socialized. The current research is designed to determine if group therapy for young girls is effective in helping them develop and maintain relationships. The objectives for this project are: 1) To give young girls specific skills needed to develop relationships; 2) Provide young girls with necessary tools needed to maintain relationships; 3) To examine the relationship between group therapy and building and maintaining relationships.
