Isaiah Washington and the Guilt-Purification-Redemption Cycle

This essay applies Kenneth Burke's guilt-purification-redemption cycle to the real life drama following actor Isaiah Washington's derogatory remarks about his co-star, T.R. Knight. The essay describes and analyzes the process of public mortification Washington underwent in his efforts to purge himself of guilt and to gain forgiveness and redemption.
