Global environmental, political, and economic concerns have raised the profile of knowledge management. Knowledge reception (defined as willing, able acceptance and use) is vital to the diffusion of technological and behavioral change. The role of reception in the process of knowledge transfer and management is examined from historical and present perspectives. Future solutions are put forward for feasible application to concerns at the local level. A summary of preparations necessary to participate in these solutions is included.
