From Empowerment to Destruction: The Female Artist and Self-Representation

This presentation will examine the art work of four female artists over the last forty years, suggesting that the image of the female body as put forth by said artists, has devolved from one of self-empowerment to self-destruction. This of course, begs the question: As women have become more politically and socially liberated, have they in turn become less emancipated in regards to their own physical bodies and their self-perception?
