Laissez les bons temps rouler: Mardi Gras in New Orleans from the 1700s to the Present

The Mardi Gras celebration held in New Orleans, Louisiana, originated with the early French settlers to the area. This presentation will examine the history of this holiday and the cultural influence it has had on areas other than the French Quarter. It will also discuss how this celebration has transformed through the centuries until today, and what it means that the parade no longer weaves through the French Quarter.
