This presentation is an overview and analysis of the book “Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity” by Julia Serano. This book examines transsexuality in a way that differs from other mainstream sources. Serano provides a cultural analysis that allows readers to become aware of popular misconceptions about identity and sexuality. Participants at this session will gain insight into not only transsexuality, but their own place in our sexualized society.
