Sex Trade in Two Worlds: An Example from Science Fiction

In the science fiction TV series Firefly we see an interesting contrast between two women working in the sex trade who live in different classes of society. This presentation will look at the way class differences operate in the sex trade and how class affects the distributions of power between client and worker, as realized in this science fiction setting. The TV series Firefly exposes interactions between class and gender through the uncommon lens of TV science fiction.
